Chelsea reiterate Mata is not for sale

Despite Arsene Wenger claiming last night that Juan Mata was ‘on the market’ [I’m pretty sure he got that from Sky Sports as he said he’d been watching the United/Chelsea match] Chelsea have reiterated that he is not for sale.

Arsenal, who of course almost signed the Spaniard before he ended up at Chelsea, have been linked with him ever since he was benched for Chelsea’s game at Old Trafford and speculation intensified with the appearance of his father at the Emirates in the director’s box last night.

Asked about Mata post-match Wenger admitted he liked him which is no great surprise given that he tried to sign him two years ago but Chelsea have issued a number of statements to say that he is not for sale, not that anyone in the press seems to be paying much attention to them as they go about their daily story-creating business.

This latest report featured in the Guardian who were reporting on the official signing of Willian who was announced today.

Another one the press think we are trying to buy, another one who won’t be leaving his club.
