Linked with a move to a number of clubs, it seems as if Gervinho could be off this summer but it will not be to Lyon after their manager ruled out a move for the Ivorian.
Speaking to the media in France, Remi Garde said
“I’ve heard it said that Lyon would be interested in Gervinho, but Gervinho is a striker and we as a team we have a number of young and strong strikers.”
It had been rumoured that Lyon fancied a swap deal for Gervinho, with Yohann Gourcuff going the other way but that seems to be just unfounded rumours as we said at the time.
Roma still seem to be favourites to land the winger however their first two bids have fallen short of Arsenal’s asking price of €8m if press reports are to be believed.
Arsenal’s interest in Bernard, if accurate, would seem to point to them being more than willing to let Gervinho leave, however many think that Serge Gnabry could well be promoted to the first team and that a replacement is not likely. What information these people are acting on is hard to know.
With Andre Santos leaving the club for Flamengo after having his contract cancelled and Andrei Arshavin being released, should Gervinho also go, there is no reason to think that Arsenal won’t look to strengthen their left side. Although Santos was supposed to be a left back he was rarely found in that position.
