Despite the fact that Gervinho has said that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal, that still doesn’t stop the media linking him with a move away nor with other clubs expressing an interest in the player.
At the end of May, Gervinho said
“There is always speculation but I am looking forward to a good holiday and to come back to Arsenal.
“I want to win my place in the starting line-up week in, week out.”
Today the Daily Mail are reporting that Marseille assistant manager Franck Passi confirmed the Ligue 1 club’s interest in Arsenal’s Ivorian by saying
‘This is a profile that interests us, yes. We want flank players, with dribbling, passing and scoring and Gervinho has this profile.’
Even though Marseille are interested in the player I think the only way Wenger would consider letting Gervinho go is if the player himself asked to leave.
Wenger rates the winger highly and it would be very unusual for him to get rid of him after only two seasons with the club, both of which were interrupted by Africa Cup of Nations duty.
I could be wrong, but I honestly don’t think Gervinho will be going anywhere in this transfer window.
