Currently away on international duty with Germany, Lukas Podolski has given an interview to Bild in which he was asked about the reported criticism he has faced from Arsene Wenger.
Starting the last few games on the bench and regularly being substituted has seen many British tabloids speculate that Podolski could be sold in the summer but it is something that the player himself, along with most Arsenal fans, know is rubbish.
Criticism? [from Wenger] I hear that for the first time. I think that I have played so far a good season at Arsenal.
Personally, I am happy with my performance and I think that I need nothing to reproach myself for.
Then asked about his relationship with Wenger he replied
[it is] absolutely good and professional. We talk a lot – also in German. He also asks me ‘how is the family.’
Asked about the speculation from The Sun in which Juventus reported interest from Juventus in him he said
I want to say two things. First I cannot help it that clubs are interested in me. And there are always people behind who want to launch something in this business.
I am busy and this subject has never come up.
And secondly any interest makes me proud because it is recognition of my performance.
But will he be leaving in the summer?
That is unlikely because at the club and in the town I feel really comfortable. There, as a player, you have peace and quiet. I appreciate that very much. Therefore, I can honestly say, I am preparing for no change.
