Aston Villa youngster Dan Crowley, only 15 years old and already dubbed the new Jack Wilshere, has been strongly linked with Arsenal over the weekend after it is believed that the North London club sent scouts to watch the highly rated youngster.
Crowley, who has impressed at U-18 level for Villa and who has appeared for England at U-16 level which saw him promoted to the U-17 side where he put in excellent displays against Portugal and Northern Ireland, has been likened to the Arsenal midfielder due to his size and technical ability.
The link first appeared in the Sunday Mirror and has since been picked up by a number of sites across the web.
It’s easy to get carried away with youngsters as the media likes to label just about any English player who comes through with the label of ‘next xxx player’ so it’s wise to be wary of getting carried away in this case.
While Arsenal have been linked with a host of players already since the January window closed it is likely that some youngsters will be recruited as Wenger continues with his tradition of trying to get talented young players before they come with the large price tags and at an age which allows them to be schooled in the Arsenal way of playing.
Arsenal would be able to get the midfielder for a small amount of compensation.
