The Spanish website Mercafutbol are today linking Arsenal with a summer move for Sevilla’s Jesus Navas and they have picked up this information from estadiodeportivo.com.
This is not the first time that Arsenal have been linked with the player. Back in the summer AS said that the club wanted to sign the player however the player himself denied any knowledge of Arsenal’s interest, saying
I don’t know anything about Arsenal. I’m staying calm and I am enjoying every moment here.
The new piece which is running in Estadiodeportivo offers no new information to substantiate any claim that Arsenal have any interest in the Spanish international however they do claim that Sevilla need to sell and the player would be willing to accept a move away from the club due to this need.
They seem to link that the current contingent of Spanish players at Arsenal – Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal – as well as previous players such as Cesc Fabregas, Jose Antonio Reyes (they actually forgot him) and Manuel Alumunia, could help to tempt Navas to North London.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Barcelona’s Victor Valdes and David Villa.
Sevilla are required to listen to offers for the 27 year old winger who still has two years left on his contract with the Spanish side but it remains to be seen if Arsenal will be one of those to make such an offers.
Arsenal’s solvency, however, has shown itself to be very useful when it comes to taking advantage of the perilous financial state of Spanish sides, allowing them to offer the entire fee in one lump sum rather than structuring payments over a longer time period and that could just give Arsenal the edge should they decide to move for the player.
