Recently linked defender Adil Rami has hinted that he may stay at Valencia as he thinks he has more of a chance of making the French national team if he is a first-team regular.
The centre-back is thought to be a target for Arsenal, who have struggled at times this season with the defensive partnership of Thomas Vermaelen and Per Mertesacker. AC Milan have also said to have their eye on the £10million-rated man.
However, according to the Express, Rami himself has told French TV that he is happy at Valencia, and perhaps thinks he wouldn’t necessarily fancy himself to break into Arsenal first team on a regular basis.
“There’s an offer from Valencia to extend my contract, and I feel good here. The most important thing for me is to be a first-team regular, which is not the case for all my rivals for a place in the French national team.”
He could even be making a reference to his compatriot Laurent Koscielny, who has spent most of the season on the bench for the Gunners this year. You can understand that he wouldn’t want to join him there and ruin his chances of an international call-up.
