After being linked to Feyenoord right-back Daryl Janmaat last month, Arsenal have again been tipped to make a raid on the Eredevisie club, this time for young midfielder Jordy Clasie.
The Metro claim that Arsenal will face competition from North London rivals Spurs for the highly-rated youngster, who has been compared with Spanish midfield maestro Xavi.
The 21-year-old has already made three international appearances for the Dutch national team, and has caught the eye of many top clubs around Europe.
A creative player in the Jack Wilshere mould, it is unclear if Clasie is exactly the kind of player Arsenal urgently need right now, with a defender or defensive midfielder surely making more sense given the current weaknesses of the side.
I’d also question how much there is to this particular story, as there are no quotes from anyone at Feyenoord confirming interest or scouting from Arsenal or Spurs. It’s more likely that, having played well this year, the papers are bigging him up by linking him to clubs like us. We’ll see if anything more comes from it in the summer.
