Brazilian will make Premier League move this summer

Highly-rated Corinthians midfielder Paulinho is widely tipped to be leaving Brazil this summer, with his agent saying Europe will be his destination. In an article on Talksport, they look at a host of suitors in England.

Kia Joorabchian, who has represented Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in previous moves from South America to the Premier League, had this to say on Paulinho’s future:

“Paulinho sees his future in Europe. I think he will definitely move in the summer.”

Arsenal have been linked before, and are mentioned in this article as a club that could do with the services of the Brazil international. Having sold Alex Song last year and reported interest in signing Mohamed Diame and other midfielders of this kind in January, there’s no doubt Paulinho would slot in pretty quickly at the Emirates, allowing the likes of Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere to play further forward.

However, with a fee of around £15-20million being mentioned, it seems like Arsene Wenger would surely consider cheaper options first. If Diame is still available for £3.5million then surely it would make more sense with our transfer policy to target the West Ham man? Then again, it also seems strange that we didn’t just snap him up last month, so there you go.

Paulinho will no doubt be linked with clubs in England and Europe’s other top leagues, so Arsenal’s name are bound to come up at some point. However, I don’t really see it happening given the price and the competition we’d face.
