Bacary Sagna has been speaking to Arsenal.com about Jack Wilshere, saying he has shown a maturity and determination beyond his years, which makes him stand out from other young footballers.
The French full-back has praised Wilshere’s work ethic as well as his overall attitude, saying he can deal with the pressure of all the lavish praise that has come his way following his recent form for Arsenal and a man-of-the-match performance for England against Brazil in midweek.
“He’s a hard worker and is always first at the training ground. At only 21 years old, that’s not common. Usually young players leave quite early and they come in quite late. Jack is working really hard, on his body first, because he realised he needed to care about himself, and on the pitch as well.
“He can deal with pressure. The way he wants to play [is with] power. He doesn’t think too much about his future, how well he will do, and how people will think about him.”
Sagna was on international duty himself this week, but was in touch with Wilshere shortly after the game, hearing that he’d played well.
“I heard he played well. I texted him and he replied to me and was quite happy. It’s good for him and I’m happy because he totally deserves it.”
