The Spanish site El Confidencial are today running a story which claims that Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho refused to sign Santi Cazorla from Malaga when the player was offered to him, along with Isco, for €35m because he did not believe that the players suited his footballing philosophy. They then point out how he opted to sign Luka Modric from Sp*rs for €40m.
The report claims that Florentino Perez had wanted to bring the players to the club but, given final say, Jose Mourinho refused.
The offer is said to have been made just a few months before Santi moved to Arsenal where he became an instant hit with the fans due to his brilliant technical ability and cheeky smile.
Cazorla has made 33 appearances for Arsenal this season and has managed to find the net nine times and grab eight assists. He has created more goalscoring opportunities than any other player in the Premier League.
