AZ manager tells Maher he should go to Arsenal not PSV

The manager of AZ Alkmaar, Gertjan Verbeek, has intervened in the potential transfer of his midfielder Adam Maher’s to PSV to tell the player that he would be better going to Arsenal than to the Dutch side.

Verbeek said

I think Arsenal is a good environment for him.

With Arsene Wenger, who has often coached these young talents, I think he can grow very good.

PSV have yet to make a formal offer for the player and it is not known if Arsenal are even interested in the 19 year-old Dutch-Moroccan player at this stage. Ajax are also said to be interested in the player whom Verbeek believes should move abroad.

With Arsenal screaming out for experience up front, a young midfielder sounds exactly like the type of player Arsene Wenger would sign instead.

Maher moved to AZ in 2004 and has made 77 appearances for the Dutchside, scoring 18 goals and getting 12 assists. He has five goals and two assists in 18 league appearances this season.

More on this if it develops.
