Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Yoann Gourcuff however according to the player’s agent, speaking in the French paper L’Equipe, it is Spanish side Atletico Madrid who have made the move to sign the player.
Nikola Franco told the paper
Atletico are actually interested in Yoann Gourcuff, but the [Spanish] club will not discuss a loan fee with Lyon.
The only solution proposed by Madrid is a free loan with a purchase option at the end of the season.
Reports claim that Lyon would be willing to let the player leave on loan but that they want a €3m fee to do do.
Arsenal have been linked with the midfielder repeatedly although nothing of substance has ever been presented by any of the media outlets to back up their claims that Arsenal are interested in the player.
Just five days ago the Guardian were reporting that Arsenal were about to land the player on loan for the rest of the season with Lyon all but packing his bags for him.
