Linesman from Arsenal Manchester City game removed from duty

The linesman from the Arsenal Manchester City game at the weekend who was overheard telling Manchester City players at the end of the match

They’ve paid 62 quid over there; go and see them

Has been removed from duty. He was due to be involved in the FA Cup replay between West Brom and QPR tonight [Tuesday].

It was announced late last night that John Brooks will be replaced by Dave Bryan.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited claim they are entitled to remove and place officials at short notice but it would seem that the linesman has been punished for his remarks which were caught on camera and circulated around the internet.

For the record, I paid £68.50 for my ticket and the only thing the linesman did for me was fail to keep up with play for the whole match.
