Sissoko move played down

The agent of supposed Arsenal target Moussa Sissoko has played down rumours that his client could be set for a move to the Premier League.

The French midfielder of Toulouse is also being watched by Spurs and Newcastle, but his agent Frederic Guerra told Goal.com that he does not want to discuss a move at this moment in time.

“I do not want to speak about it, I don’t want to refer to any news stories for the moment. Moussa is a Toulouse man. Discussions [over a new contract] have begun, I don’t want to talk about an exit or respond to any rumours.”

The 23-year-old has been likened to Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, and has five caps for the French national team. Although I haven’t seen him play, he certainly sounds like he has potential, and would be the kind of player Arsene Wenger might look at to fill the gaps in his midfield. However, his agent is clearly happy for him to stay at Toulouse for now. If a new deal is negotiated it might take a larger sum to sign him than Wenger is willing to pay. Worth watching out for though.

All I can say is that Manure players have begun their tapping up of Nasri. Whether he stays or goes, I hope this crap is sorted quickly and doesn’t turn into some Barcelona crap.  Else we might have to set RVP on them! lol
And of course good post as usual. I like the fact that we both are fans of the little russian genius. I would really like for Arshavin to stay.

I was so incensed by Arsenal’s performances at the end of this last season, that I seriously considered not renewing my Silver membership.  The lack of heart in the team and the club preferring to bank £56m profit rather than spend about half of that to strengthen the team in defence that would probably have made them Champions, drove me to despair.
I don’t know if others have joined the Doubting Thomases, but I received an email yesterday from the club reminding me that I had yet to renew and I wonder if they are beginning to see the light.
Well I weakened and have renewed with 2 days to the deadline.  I struggle up from Portsmouth for matches at the Emirates and the likes of the Sunderland and Blackburn games made me ask myself why.  Others on the train home said the same thing.
However I cannot bring myself to start chanting ‘Play Up Pompey’ so it is another season of ‘Ooh to be a Gooner’.  But if we go another close season with no significent signings it WILL be my last, I am fed up with being taken for a mug

yep it’s worrying or ominous, take your pick, that no moves yet made in the market-for me it doesn’t bode well with realistically 5/6 wks left b4 pre-season-oh well,on wengers head it is.because this window he is in “the last chance saloon”& nobody is going to dig himout of it next sesaon,if he doesn’t come up with the goods.because what  ever will be left of the old board won’t have the power, this is why he persuaded rice to give it one more season-the two will either “walk” or be “pushed”..sad but invetitably true..

This is somewhat tangential, but…since you mentioned the stats, I just thought to myself that Arshavin and Nasri work together quite well. E.g. the Nasri goal vs. Aston Villa (assisted by Arshavin), or the Arshavin goal against Barcelona (assisted by Nasri), the one-two for Nasri’s goal at Eastlands v. Man City, Arshavin’s assist for the goal against West Brom at Emirates… They work together almost as well as the Walcott/Van Persie combination. (I think that’s our two best pairs in terms of personal playing chemistry, if you disregard the fact that Fabregas might just be so good, he can have chemistry with just about anyone.) As such, I’m hesitant to make comparisons between the two, and think they’re both vital for us to hold on to for next season. I won’t dispute that Arshavin’s laissez-faire impression doesn’t help him with all the stick he’s getting, but he’s just not that kind of personality, and your point about the stats is an excellent one to make.

Honestly, all these wrangles dishearten me every summer, but you said it best; we always cope.

Another point that might be worth making is that both Nasri and Arshavin had better performances in the 1st half of the season. Maybe it’s burn out, or maybe it’s that AW didn’t bring anyone fresh into the team in January (I think I remember reading that incoming players always make the team perform better…if that’s not entirely true, I know it is for the second half of the 07/08 season when Arshavin came in) and so there’s some sort of burnout in the team?

Here’s a nightmare scenario for you………….we don’t buy anyone of significance this summer, AW brings in a pile of youth loanees and diamonds in the rough, lets Eboue, Rosciky, Almunia, Vela,Bendtner, Denilson,Cesc,Nasri, Clichy and Arshavin go for around 130MEuro, banks it in Kroenke’s account and starts the season with Ryo, Bartley, Lansbury, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Miguel and Coquelin as substitutes with Squillaci/Djourou,Gibbs/Sagna and Vermaelen/Kos as our defensive options and Szcesny/Fabianski/Mannone as our keepers. The board would love him as would our ¨owner¨ and he’ll squeeze a 4th place finish, another CL playoff spot and possibly even the CC out of a team composed of: RVP, chamakh, Walcott, Miyachi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Wilshere, Song, Diaby, Miguel,Coquelin, Bartley, Lansbury, Frimpong, Squillaci,Djourou, Vermaelen,Koscielny, Gibbs, Sagna, Szcesny,Fabianski and Mannone et.al. He’ll send out JET and the remaining stopgap loanees to various EPL,aLiga and Seria A clubs and feel he’s done Arsenal proud again!
wouldn’t it be a riot if he won something big with this lot…..I’d love it!!!

You’re mental! lol but I’d be lying if I didn’t say a part of me would love it too if he could win something with that lot…don’t think he can tho unfortunately.

    • Omglol

      I like it.

  • Fatgooner

If you honestly believe that Wenger is going to go on a massive spending spree this summer then forget it! All we are going to get this June and July are a bunch of ‘promising’ African/French/South American players who nobody has ever heard of. We don’t do big signings any more.
That’s why Cesc, and probably Nasri, will desert our sinking ship of mediocrity this summer.
Wenger and the Board are only interested in profits and not success.
