According to the Italian site Tuttomercatoweb Juventus will be sending scouts to South American to watch the Sudamericano U20 Championship with a view to watching a number of players, one of which is Arsenal’s on-loan Brazilian midfielder Denilson which is all very confusing as Denilson is 24. Perhaps they just thought ‘as we’re in the area’ we’ll see who else is about. As unlikely as it seems that Juventus would be interested in Denilson you just have to tell yourself two things – Nicklas Bendter and Armand Traore.
Denilson is currently on loan with Sao Paulo, a deal which runs until June, after which he will have 12 months left on his current Arsenal contract and it does seem like his time in North London is very much at an end. Denilson would probably be far better suited to Serie A than he is the Premier League but all interviews that he has given recently have seen him talk about how much he is enjoying being in Brazil so it’s hard to see him want to go somewhere else if he is given the opportunity to stay with Sao Paulo. Of course, that all depends on Arsenal and Sao Paulo but it does seem at this point that Arsenal would be willing to let him go and that there is no place for him at the club.
The Sudamericano U20 will take place in Argentina between January 9th and 3rd February with the four finalists qualifying for the FIFA U20 Word Cup which will be held in Turkey later this year.
