After Sebastien Squillaci confirmed that he wanted to leave Arsenal [rumour tonight has it that he’s off to Bastia] and Johan Djourou set for a move to Hannover in Germany it was assumed by most Arsenal fans that we would seem young Ignasi Miquel promoted to the first team however it seems like he is set to leave [only on loan, don’t panic] with reports tonight gathering pace that he’s set for Sheffield Wednesday.
At this stage I can’t even say this is a concrete rumour but it did spring up randomly and has been spreading.
Other news sees Marouane Chamakh on the verge of a move to West Ham on loan, a fact which has been greeted by groans by some Hammers fans. While again this is not confirmed, the source for this rumour is at least a BBC journalist who can be considered significantly more reliable that the person who started the Miquel to Sheffield Wednesday rumour on Twitter.
With no signings appearing on the horizon for Arsenal it would mean that the club have a major number of first-teamers out on loan and they would be leaving their squad paper-thin.
Surely that points to signings coming in right?
There is still no sign of which club will win the race for Arshavin with many clubs not overly seeming to be that bothered about signing him. Earlier today we heard that PSG had become an option but that started in the Daily Mail with no source to back it up and hasn’t really been picked up by any other outlets.
[UPDATE - tonight Johan Djourou is reported as having confirmed he will join Hannover saying that he joined the team which wanted him the most [source @Houmi88]]
