The Spanish website Fichajes is today reporting that Arsenal are prepared to submit a €15m offer for Valencia keeper Vicente Guaita.
They don’t say how they know that Arsenal are ready to offer this amount or how they know that Arsenal are interested in the shot-stopper who has made only two league appearances for Valencia this season (and four in the Champions League).
Guaita, who has been displaced as Valencia’s number one by Diego Alves, is being reported as wanting to leave, though what assurances of playing time he would get at Arsenal is hard to know given that Wojciech Szczesny is currently the number one.
With Vito Mannone not good enough and Lukasz Fabianksi out of contract in the summer, Arsenal are looking to reinforce in this position. The move for Guaita would not, therefore, be completely unexpected, however it remains to be seen how Arsenal would intend to keep both the keepers happy should they land him.
Guaita, 25, made 26 appearances in the league for Valencia last season, conceding a total of 25 goals and keeping 12 clean sheets and back in November we brought you news that he was being linked with a move to Arsenal, the source at the time was the same website as the one which is running this story.
His contract with Valencia runs until 2015.
