El Shaarawy happy at Milan, but doesn’t rule out move

Are Arsenal readying a move for AC Milan's El Shaarawy

The Daily Express have taken some quotes made by Stephen El Shaarawy to mean he is ruling out a move from AC Milan to Arsenal.

The Italian winger has been in tremendous form for the Serie A giants this season, and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger recently expressed an admiration for the player. Although this is somewhat uncharacteristic of the Frenchman, he didn’t explicitly say he saw him as a transfer target.

And with these quotes El Shaarawy has not explicitly said he would be staying at Milan, though he has spoken of his happiness at the club, and his pride at being the league’s top scorer.

He said:

“I am having a good time this season. I am scoring a lot of goals. Hopefully this situation goes on for as long as possible. Do I aspire to the Capocannoniere? Well, staying ahead of the likes of Miroslav Klose and Edinson Cavani is a good feeling.”

If Arsenal’s interest is genuine, then that’s hardly the most devastating of blows as the Express article puts it. I’m not saying it will happen and it certainly won’t be cheap, but if the player is tempted by a move to the Emirates it always helps.
