Arsenal could pounce for Turan

Turkish-football.com reports that Atletico Madrid will face a battle to keep midfielder Arda Turan, with top clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool monitoring his situation.

A move would probably not happen this January, but in the summer, as the player’s agent Ahmet Bulut seems keen for the 25-year-old to move on from Atletico. He told Turkish broadcaster TRT:

“Arda has played at Atletico Madrid for two seasons now. I have wanted to see him play for another team in another league and Arda wants the same. We are working on making this happen, Atletico know what our intention is and are working with us. If all goes well, Arda will leave the Madrid club at the end of this season.”

Turan has been linked with Arsenal before, with his agent previously saying it would be very tempting for the Turkish international to work under Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

“He is interested in working under Arsene Wenger because he is very good at working with young players, and Arda wants to work in England.”

This was, however, before Turan moved to Spain in 2011 and it remains to be seen if Arsenal are in fact still interested, or if this is the work of an agent clearly looking to boost his client’s salary.
