Podolski warns of Bayern quality [updated with video]

Arsenal’s German forward Lukas Podolski believes the club will face a tough test in the next round of the Champions League, as they were today drawn against his former side Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian giants are runnaway leaders at the top of the Bundesliga this season, and were unlucky to lose last season’s Champions League final on penalties after outplaying Chelsea for 120 minutes.

Podolski is wary of the quality Bayern’s players, but told Arsenal Player that he believes the Gunners have a chance to cause an upset in this tie.

“They played in the final in 2010 and last year. It’s a big club but we have the chance to win against Bayern Munich. They have a very good team with big players.

“They have Gomez up front, they have Ribery, Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer. There are two matches, one at home [and] one away. Both teams have the chance to win.”

It’s certainly a tough tie, but Arsenal’s German contingent of Podolski and Mertesacker (and who knows – maybe Huntelaar and Holtby to arrive from the Bundesliga in January?) should know plenty about their opponents.
