Despite widespread reports that a deal to bring Thierry Henry back to Arsenal for a third spell when the January window opens has been agreed, according to the MLS club, the New York Red Bulls have said that there has been no Arsenal contact regarding the player.
The reports, which first appeared on Goal.com, led people to believe that it was a done deal however the reality was that they were simply reporting that Henry had agreed to return and were not claiming any finalised deal. They did, however, claim that Arsenal had made early contact in a bid to make sure that Henry could join from the moment the window opened. As we pointed out, they offered no sources to back up their claim.
A spokesman for the Red Bulls, speaking to MLSsoccer.com said
No club has made a request for a loan of any of our players.
It is widely expected that Arsenal’s all-time leading goalscorer will return to the club but despite numerous press reports, nothing has been agreed yet.
