Ox wins SJA award

The Sports Journalist’s Association Awards 2012 are currently taking place and it has just been announced that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has won the Peter Wilson trophy for ‘Best International Newcomer’, an award which is open to members of all sports not just football.

It was being reported on Twitter that Oxlade-Chamberlain joked it was an honour to win anything at the minute, his quote being reported as

“It’s an honour to win… anything really.”

He was presented the award by Heather Rabbatts.

 

 

The SJA British Sports Awards are the oldest sports awards in Britain, founded in 1949.  This year’s event is being staged in The Pavilion at the Tower of London, hosted by Michael Parkinson in foront of a 600-seat sell-out audience.
