TalkSPORT reported yesterday that Arsenal and Chelsea will battle it out with Juventus for the signature of young Italian midfielder Marco Verratti if Ancelotti gets the boot from PSG. Verratti is apparently very fond of Ancelotti and will look for a new club / throw his toys out of the pram if his bestest bud is forced to walk the plank into the Parisian oil fields..

I’ve just got a few small observations here – if Verratti gets attached to managers – then surely the idea of moving to Chelsea isn’t a good one? If Verratti loves his bestest friend in the universe so much – then surely he wouldn’t sign for a club that treated him so badly? It would be a bit like going out with your best mate’s ex. Its also worth noting that if Arsenal were really interested – we would have taken him from Pescarai n the summer rather than waiting for him to sign for one of the richest clubs in the world and then trying to sign him. You see it’s not just that I doubt the credibility and source of the story (not even listed in the article) – I question whether we have any genuine interest at all.

And if that wasn’t enough to convince you – this is what Verratti’s agent had to say:

“There is no truth in the stories that Marco will return toItaly,”

“He’s very happy at PSG. They are one of the most important clubs in the world and one with a very ambitious project.

“The story about Marco leaving PSG has only come out because of the Ancelotti rumours. But Marco’s future is not tied to that of Ancelotti.”

So – in summary – the answer is no. No – we won’t be signing Verratti from PSG (unless they take Squeakylacci in exchange) and no – his future is not tied to that of his bestest friend in the whole wide world. On the positive side- it’s very unlikely he will be going to Chel$ki either.
