With the news this week that midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has finally received his international clearance to play for Ghana after what was a protracted saga of delayed submissions and missing paperwork, a spokesman for the Ghana FA has been keen to welcome the player while pointing out that he won’t go straight in to the side.
Ibrahim Sannie Daara told Radio XYZ
[Frimpong is] a very strong midfielder coming into a very competitive midfield for Ghana. It’s not a walk in the park at all to be a midfielder and to be a Ghanaian. Most of our best players are midfielders if not all. It will not be a stroll in the park for him.
Frimpong told Footy-Ghana
Yeah, I got notified earlier…that I have finally been cleared. I’m relieved now.
While FIFA commented
The Single Judge of FIFA’s Player Status Committee yesterday confirmed the change of association of Emmanuel Frimpong – England to Ghana.
