As the rumours surrounding Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Arsenal gather pace at an incredible rate it seems as if his current club have taken exception to the whole situation and have hit out at Arsenal. Speaking to German paper Bild (quotes via Sport Witness), their general manager Horst Heldt has said
“This is complete nonsense. There are no offers and no sign of Klaas-Jan leaving. I consider such statements very hazardous unless Meijer sits in the office of Arsenal. He is as unimportant as the fifth referee.
“If someone comes to us with a crazy idea six months before the expiry date, and has a lot of money, then we deal with it. But they must come first. From Arsenal circles we hear that there is no money anyway.”
The comments he refers to are those from German Sky Sports pundit and former Dutch player Erik Meijer who said he believed that Huntelaar was set for a January move with Arsenal the favourites to land the goalscorer.
So. There you have it. Arsenal, who have just signed a new bumper £150m deal with Emirates have no money. Do you believe it? I don’t.
