The Daily Mirror have linked Arsenal with a move for Wigan keeper Ali Al-Habsi in a move they claim would cost Arsenal £7m.
The Mirror, as is their tendency, offer no sources to back up their claims that Arsenal have been tracking the keeper since last season however with Julio Cesar’s claims that Arsenal tried to sign him and Pepe Reina’s claims that they also submitted a massive, club record bid for his services, I don’t think it takes a huge leap to get to the point where you realise Arsenal are actually looking for a keeper.
The player is not thought to be angling for a move and Wigan are under no pressure to sell and if the valuation that the club are supposed to have put on the player you’d have to wonder if Wenger would be willing to pay that for 30 year old player who has conceded 21 goals in 12 Premier League games this season and has only two clean sheets to his name.
Is Al-Habsi on Arsenal’s wishlist? Possibly, but the Mirror offer nothing to back up their claim and their track record when it comes to potential Arsenal targets is nothing to be proud of.------------
