It’s probably not what many people want to hear but, the truth is, no matter how much the senior team needs strengthening, the club’s eye still needs to be trained on youth so it is with this that the news that 15 year old Swedish defender Hampus Dahlquist is set for a trial with Arsenal next week.

The defender, who is currently with IFK Gothernburg, has been interesting a host of clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Hamburg and Ajax according to reports in the Swedish press but the Italian press are claiming that Arsenal are the forerunners in the chase for his signature.

His agent, Anders Karlsson, has reportedly been speaking about the interest in his player from a host of clubs saying

It’s great fun and cool. But you cannot go around to all the clubs, you choose something that feels good.

Asked if he would rather that Hampus Dahlquist stayed in Sweden or went abroad, Karlsson said

I do not know, it depends. But I think I want abroad.
