In what is an extremely nice touch from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, Le Professor has sent a letter of congratulations to a couple who are life-long Arsenal supporters and are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.

Pat and Dennis Riley, who have both always been Arsenal fans and are both 81, were delighted to receive the letter with Mrs Riley saying

It was lovely to get the letter. We have been Arsenal fans all our lives, both of us were. We used to go to all the games.

One of my best memories was drinking champagne with the team out of the [FA] cup [in 1950]. My father was a councillor and there was a reception in the town hall. My mother couldn’t go so I did – all the team were there. It was wonderful for an 18 year old.

No details of what the letter said were made available, but still, a lovely touch from the Arsenal boss.
