Ahead of Real Madrid’s league opener, Nuri Sahin has been omitted from the squad as it is being widely reported that he is close to a move to Arsenal which is expected to be completed in the next 48 hours according to various media outlets.
The Spanish press had been reporting that Mourinho wanted Sahin to join up with his former colleague Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool but that the player preferred Arsenal and the chance of Champions League football and it seems as if the player is getting his way. The Daily Mail are also reporting that if the player had went to Liverpool then Real Madrid would have received a larger loan fee.
Mourinho named a 22 man squad for their season opener against Valencia and there was no place for the player who is destined to leave the club and the Turkish midfielder, who also holds a German passport, is expected to have his future sorted out very soon.
From what I can gather he does seem to be on his way to the Emirates but let’s not count our midfielders just yet.
