Marca are today reporting that Nuri Sahin would prefer to move to Arsenal while his manager, Jose Mourhino would rather that the player moved to Liverpool.
Mourhino, who has previously worked with new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and has somewhat of a ‘strained’ relationship with Arsene Wenger, is believed to favour a move to the Rodger’s club, perhaps he’d rather the player not be over-exerted with Champions League football.
Wenger has been an admirer of the player for some time, calling him the best player in the world under 20 in 2005 and Marca claim that Arsenal tried to sign the player before he moved to Madrid.
Despite many reports that Sahin was deployed as a left back on Real Madrid’s US tour, their stats show that he actually player 127 minutes on the wing.
Marca expect the situation to be resolved this week. I’m pretty sure that the press have been saying ‘this week’ for a few weeks now but with the start of the Premier League on the horizon it would make sense that the player arrives before the weekend. Where he arrives, no-one seems to know.
