The President of Rennes, Frederic de Saint Sernin, has revealed that his club have yet to receive a concrete offer for the midfielder Yann M’Vila who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer.
Speaking to RMC sport, the Rennes President said
We have agreed with him that he can be transferred this summer. There are several big foreign clubs interested in him. We are not doing anything to prevent him leaving right now – there have not been any offers. He is our international, a player we greatly appreciate. He has spent his entire career at Rennes, from the training centre to the first-team, with [current Rennes coach] Frederic Antonetti giving him his start.
Obviously, we look upon him with something more than endearment. He is a player with the greatest value for us, particularly in emotional terms.
This year, he has acted like a leader. He has fought and bounce back psychologically despite having had a few difficulties.
M’Vila joined the Ligue 1 side in 2004 from FC Mantes when he was 14 and has made 110 appearances for the French side. Representing France at every level, the midfielder has 22 full international caps and one goal.
Back in May, respected journalist Julien Laurens tweeted that the M’Vila to Arsenal deal was 99% done.
M’Vila’s current contract with Rennes expires in June 2014.
